KATHMANDU: Meeting between the Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has been postponed.
According to a Baluwatar source, the meeting was postponed at the last minute even though the meeting was scheduled for the report submitted by the task force formed by the CPN (Maoist) to resolve the dispute within the party.
A task force was formed on July 12 to resolve the recent internal disputes within the CPN (Maoist). The task force consisted of General Secretary Bishnu Poudel, Standing Committee members Shankar Pokharel, Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Pampha Bhusal and Janardan Sharma.
The task force submitted its report on Saturday after nine days of discussions. In the report, it has been suggested that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will lead the government for the rest of the term of the House of Representatives and Chairman Dahal will conduct the meetings of the party.
The report has suggested that such political appointments should be decided only on the basis of consensus after discussion in the secretariat and necessary restructuring to make the state government effective. Suggesting that the unity convention should be held within 25 to 30 April, the report has suggested the party to focus on the general convention after completing the remaining work of unity.
The CPN (Maoist) is preparing to convene a secretariat meeting after reaching an agreement in the discussions between the two chairman.
