KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has warned to take action if the crowds at Balkhu and Kalimati vegetable markets are not managed. This was warned by Minister Bhatta while monitoring the fruit and vegetable markets in Kalimati and Balkhu this morning.
According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Bhatta monitored the situation on the spot due to the rising prices of vegetables and fruits in the market, lack of social distance and overcrowding. Minister Bhatt reached Kalimati Bazaar at 5 in the morning and then reached Balkhu Bazaar.
During the monitoring, the market was found to be overcrowded with retailers, social distance was not observed and people came without wearing masks, the ministry said. After seeing the chaos in the market, Minister Bhatta instructed the security personnel to maintain social distance, use masks and sanitizers and take action against the disobedient.
