Chennai Super Kings(CSK) have made a winning start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which started on Saturday. In the first match that ended on Saturday night, the defending champions Mumbai Indians lost by 5 wickets.
Chennai surpassed Mumbai’s target of 163 for five with four balls to spare. Ambati Rayudu added 71 runs off 48 balls for Chennai. Similarly, Fap du Plessis contributed 58 not out.
In bowling, Mumbai’s Trent Bolt, James Pattinson, Jaspreet Bumrah, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya took 1-1 wickets.
Earlier, batting first, Mumbai added 162 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Saurabh Tiwary was the top scorer for Mumbai with 42 runs. Quantin de Kock was out for 33 while other batsmen could not add significant runs.
In bowling, Lungi Ngidi of Chennai took 3 wickets. Similarly, Deepak Chahar and Rabindra Jadeja took 2-2 wickets. The match between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab is being played in the IPL on Sunday night.
