U.S. officials have warned of serious threats to the government, sensitive structures and the private sector as a major hacking operation unveiled this week.
The US Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has said that preventing this cyber attack would be a very complex matter. The US Department of the Treasury and Commerce was targeted in the cyber attack.
Many in the United States suspect that the Russian government is behind it. However, Russia has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating “Similar, baseless allegations concerning Russia’s intelligence have been made more than once.
The CISA said in a statement on Thursday that “government bodies, sensitive structures and private sector entities have been targeted by a ‘constantly evolving dangerous player’ that began in March 2020.”
According to him, after the hacking, they introduced patience, operational security and brief information about such cases.
Newly-elected President Joe Biden has said he will make cybersecurity a top priority of his administration. The hacking campaign targeted several US government agencies.
The hackers monitored confidential data from the US Department of State, Defense, Internal Security, Finance and Commerce.
