Kathmandu. The caretaker Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has restructured the cabinet. Prime Minister Oli has formed a 17-member cabinet with the Janata Samajwadi Party’s Mahanta Thakur faction in the government.

For that, one deputy prime minister, nine ministers and three ministers of state have been removed from the existing cabinet. Assistant Spokesperson to the President’s Office Keshav Prasad Ghimire informed that the newly appointed ministers have taken oath of office and secrecy.

Incumbent Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, CPN-UML’s Raghuvir Mahaseth and senior JSP leader Rajendra Mahato have been made Deputy Prime Ministers in the new cabinet.

Deputy Prime Minister Mahaseth has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mahato has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Urban Development. The new cabinet includes eight ministers and two ministers of state, including Deputy Prime Minister Mahato.

Sharad Singh Bhandari has been appointed Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation by Anil Kumar Jha and Laxman Lal Karna has been appointed Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

Similarly, Vimal Srivastava, Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security and Umashankar Aragaria, Minister for Forests and Environment, Banda Chanda Chaudhary have been given charge of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and Ekwal Mia has been given charge of Youth and Sports.

Sher Bahadur Tamang has been appointed Minister of Health and Population from the ruling UML, Chandrakant Chaudhary has been appointed Minister of Energy and Renuka Gurung has been appointed Minister of State for Women and Children.

Nine ministers, including UML general secretary Ishwor Pokharel, and three ministers of state have left the cabinet. Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Gyawali, Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Citizenship Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padmakumari Aryal, Minister for Communications Rapavat Gurung and Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Shivamaya Tumbahamphe has resigned.

Similarly, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Ganesh Gathunna, Minister for Forests and Environment Prem Bahadur Ale and Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Juli Kumari Mahato have also resigned.

Minister of State for Health Nawaraj Raut, Minister of State for Urban Development Ram Bir Manandhar and Minister of State for Industry Vimala Vik have also resigned from the government.

As the Ministries of Home, Defense, Communications, Agriculture, Industry, Commerce and General Administration are still without ministers, all these ministries are currently being handled by the Prime Minister.
